FRANCISCO ALBERTO CALDERON CUESTA


Born at La Habana (Cuba) on April 8th, 1966.

Coming from a family of artists and musicians, he follows in his first and best masters footsteps: his father Albeo Calderon Martinez and his mother  Lazara Cuesta Torrez. 

In  1971, only fifty, he starts to dance in the folkloristic group “Oddu Ara” with who he takes part to every artistic and cultural events of those years,  as Dance Festivals in the most important theatres of his Country.In  1978 he takes part to the 11th International Festival of young students in La Habana (Cuba).

During the Eighties, he has the possibility to share the stage-set and the rehearsal rooms with the company “Conjunto folkloristico nacional de Cuba” with who he takes part to some events. Before, he’s involved in many others traditional Cuban appearances as, for example, the “San Miguel del padron” appearance, as dancer and choreographer, “Los componedores de batea” as soloist rumba dancer and as solist eleggua dancer in the “cabildo avanero”.

In 1986 he takes part of the artistic company “ Mulemba de Cuba” where he professionally grows and has the possibility to meet the most important artistic company of his Country, as the “Folkloristico di oriente” and the “Cutumba di Santiago de Cuba”, etc.

In 1988 he’s selected to take part of the company “Cabaret Continental de Varadero”, where there are many show artists: it’s his first European Tournée.

In 1990 he becomes a dancer of the “Cabaret Tropicana de Cuba”, taking part to some important Tours all over the world, sharing the stage with very important artists as Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Cheo Feliciano, Arturo Sandoval, Gran Combo de Puertorico, Los Van Van, Charanga Habanera and many singers and musicians of the company “Buena Vista Social Club”.

In 1996 he comes to Milan, thanks to his friend and brother Alberto Valdes, as dancer and choreographer of the famous Cuban artistic company Adolfo Guzman: he takes part of the musical  ensemble “Fiebre latina” and then of the Group “Un solo pueblo”, now become “Otra Idea”, historical animation and show Groups with who he works for many years in events, shows and performances – as the Congresso Bacardi – in Italy, Switzerland and all over Europe.

In 2001 the dance School Clalb Timbalaye opens in Milan, from an idea of his partner Claudia Nicelli and very supported by the passion of Alberto for dance. Now is one of the bigger and famous dance school of Milan and Italy, where they work with  big skill and reliability.

Always together they create many important yearly events as the Salsa Neve, Por Las Calles de Mi Cuba (summer stages with the most famous Cuban masters) where they allow their students to deepen the Cuban dances and culture.

Albertico Calderon teaches with many passion the style and technique of various dances as: Salsa cubana, son, chachacha, mambo, rumba (yambù – guaguancò – Columbia) and other original dances as the afro (Yoruba, congo, ararà). He has a very elegant style, with fantasy and technique, from which we could notice his love for popular dances and traditional afro and cuban dances.

At the present Albertico has two dance groups : the Compagnia Timbalaye, composed by some of his best students (women and men), and the Grupo Vacunao, composed only by men, where there is also his son Alberto – TITO Calderon.
