ROBI Y LINDA

Robert Semeši – "The Crazyman" Robi

His main area of interest are social dances (including salsa), but he also learned acrobatic rock'n'roll, jazz dance, tap-dance, hip-hop, international and native folk dances, and many other dance forms. This versatile dancer has been teaching since 1995, and directing his own studio since 1999. In addition, Robi has a music background which he actively applies in his dancing and teaching.

He earned the salsa nickname „The Crazyman“ thanks to limitless energy on the dance floor, dancing from the heart and coming up with often unexpected, entertaining and musical moves.

Linda Gros

Even though she started dancing not long ago, this young dancer from Zagreb already has considerable dance experience under her belt. Linda joined Robi's group in 2004, and started teaching and directing the studio with Robi soon thereafter. Her main area of activity today is ballroom dance performance. She is known in the salsa scene for her exceptionally rich style, from gentle elegance to expressiveness and explosive energy, for her ability to improvise, and her excellent musicality and interpretation of the music through movement.

Robi & Linda

In directing their dance studio MuReCaS (short for Musical-Revue-Cabaret-Show) in Zagreb, Robi and Linda recently started placing emphasis to salsa and other Cuban and Caribbean dances. They have been expanding their knowledge in these dances at numerous salsa congresses, festivals and other similar events at home and abroad, by learning from instructors from a broad range of styles. As a result, their salsa social-dancing style involves elements of various dance forms and dance styles. They have formulated their own, original method of teaching, whose basis is the merger of the Cuban natural approach to dance and the systematic Euro-American approach, enriched with elements of their rich personal experience.

Their theory is that dance becomes alive when:
• it is not performed mechanically, but rather complements the music,
• it is not only learned, but also understood,
• it is not forced, but relaxed and free, and
• both dance partners and the music become one in the dance

Their motto:

“Give a man a fish - feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish - feed him for a lifetime.”
“If you want to have fun, dance in a way that a deaf man can see music in your dancing.”
