His Friday's Coffee Lounge has become so popular that it has become a part of many festival programs already. Back at your favorite Croatian Summer Salsa Festival - Mr. Salsa Controversy himself! Take a sip... and relax! ;)
It all started with a casual FB post on some interesting phenomenon that he noticed in the world of salsa, people started commenting and the rest is pretty much history :) The world of salsa dancers has started to anticipate his posts every week in what is now known as Friday's Coffee Lounge by Olu Olu where this Salsa Cosmopolite tackles controversial topics regarding the much commented lifestyle of both salsa social dancers and artists. He's sharp, intelligent and doesn't miss a thing - so if he hasn't said anything about a phenomenon you've noticed, it's probably because he'll do it in his next edition of the infamous Coffee Lounge ;)
After a couple of editions of his extremely interesting panels live, his Coffee Lounge is coming back at this year's edition of Croatian Summer Salsa Festival! Make sure you save your spot, cause you're up for another round of really interesting topics and guests.
We've selected a range of interesting personalities from our dance world which will add up a bit of their own flair to the panel:
1. Social dancing vs performing
What are the differences and similarities of skill sets needed for social dancing and performing? And what have been the effects, if any, of the popularity of performance courses on the social dancing social or in particular individual dancers?
2. I Need a One Dance
With the rise of both bachata and kizomba communities and differentiation of styles within them, there have been more and more events specializing in only one dance. Has the global dance scene taken that turn? How many dancers actually go to a multi room event and dance more than one style? I.e. salsa, bachata or kizomba?
3. Sexual Abuse in Dance Community
Do we have a sexual abuse problem in the community? If so is there anything we can do to make the scene zero tolerant in its attitude to sexual abuse?
Adris Old Tobacco Factory, cloakroom (next to the festival office), on Friday 30th June starting at 13:30h, ENTRANCE: free of charge!
