DJ Romy aka The Preacher is probably the 'most international' DJ in the Romanian salsa landscape. The only thing that makes him different than the others is his ability to read the crowd and play the right track at the right moment. The Preacher is all about 'good music', but this is the experience you'll have to witness by yourself.
DJ Romy's DJing career started in 2007 with the SalsaGalaxy Dance Company's parties in Bucharest. Thus he became the official DJ of those parties. Later on, he has been invited to DJ at some national events and at international events in Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, Italy, Hungary and Croatia.
In May 2011, he became the resident DJ of Salsa For You Club (Bucharest), where all salseros join for most of the Salsa parties of the Capital. He is also the resident DJ of the National Salsa Congress (Brasov) and the Salsa Addicted Festival (Timisoara), the biggest events that take place in Romania every year. In 2012, he launched 'The Preacher's Clubbin' Sesions' - approx. 30-minute 'in the mix' sessions of house music and new sounds. He is not only a salsa DJ but a real entertainer through all music genres.
Due to his musical training and to his experience as an instructor, he showed that he understands the connection between musicality and interpretation in salsa. This is another reason that makes him different than the other Salsa DJs. His style combines salsa vieja, salsa romantica, salsa dura, salsa cubana, mambo, cha-cha, bachata and zouk/kizomba into a mix to keep the salseros on the dance floor all night long.
His favorite saying is "good music is for everybody" and his favorite artists are Tito Puente, Ray Barretto, Willie Colon, Eddie Palmieri, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Hector Lavoe, El Gran Combo, The New Swing Sextet, La Excelencia and many others.
