Placement test

These tests are nothing to be scared of as they are primarily here to guarantee you receive the best possible education. We are introducing them to make a more homogeneous audience so you can receive targeted knowledge and progress together faster.

WHY DO I NEED A TEST?

Let's put it in simple terms. Many of you have probably been discouraged many times at classes where you can't learn anything because the level of the audience is mixed. Yes, we would all like to be advanced dancers but going to an advanced class does not make sense if you are really not advanced dancers. With PLACEMENT TESTS the aim is to make a unified group of dancers with the same or similar level of knowledge and to make the learning process more stimulating resulting in greater progress.

We believe that when you’re completely aware of your dance level, only then you can develop your skills in a proper way and fully enjoy the process without feeling frustrated or discouraged. On the contrary – you will only get the urge to learn and progress even more.

"What we learn with pleasure we never forget."

HOW IS IT GOING TO WORK?

We will leave the decision of determining which level you belong to to no one else but our top teachers - your festival instructors. So, if you want to attend intermediate/advanced workshops you'll have to take a test to prove your level. And then it’s 3 steps only:

1. Choose your dance style – ON1, ON2, Cuban
2. Take a PLACEMENT test for your style and get an INT/ADV LEVEL wristband
3. Attend INT/ADV PRE-FESTIVAL SPECIAL only if you received a wristband during classification tests. IMPROVER level workshops can be attended by all participants.

The test will be quite simple.

• Our festival instructors will play a couple of songs
• You will dance with a couple of different partners (both partnerwork and shines/rumba/pasitos)
• INSTRUCTORS will be walking around and handing out LEVEL wristbands. As soon as you get the level wristband, you’re free to go.

***Your LEVEL wristband works only for PREFESTIVAL SPECIALS (Wednesday, Thursday), during the weekend workshops you can attend any workshop you want.***

WHAT IF I FAIL?
There is no shame in knowing your dance level! If you do not pass to INT/ADV level that just means you can attend:

• IMPROVER workshops (ON1/ON2/Cuban)
• BACHATA WORKSHOPS
• MOVEMENT TRACK WORKSHOPS (Afro Cuban, etc.) - all level

After mastering IMPROVER workshops you will sure be joining the INT/ADV level next year. Actually, you will even learn more than going to INT/ADV classes since going there does not serve your goal of progress at all.

WHEN ARE THE TESTS?
Wednesday, 26th June at 14:00h. Place: TBA.
