The one and only Cuban superstar, Tropicana graduate, and internationally acclaimed dancer, Maykel Fonts is known for his elegance, attitude, power, and unmatched dancing skills.
He studied at Cuba’s legendary Tropicana dance school, mastering ballet, modern and contemporary dance, Afro, and rumba, before moving to Italy in 2000 with the iconic group Ire Batà. There, he continued his training with world-renowned teachers including Virgilio Pitzalis, Marco Macchetti, Steve LaChance, Gus Bemberry, Christopher Uggins, Chacalli, Paganini, and many more. In 2005, he completed a professional flamenco course in Jerez, Spain, an. d over the years has trained in ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, flamenco, Latin-American dances, and acrobatics, mastering techniques across many dance styles.
For years, we have had the honor of welcoming Maykel to our festival, and every time he steps on the stage, his charisma, infectious energy, and mesmerizing musicality electrify the dance floor. This summer prepare to see, feel, and move with a true Cuban legend!
