Whether you want to reconnect with Afro-Cuban roots or you’re a hardcore mambo dancer, listening to the music is what truly matters. And there’s no better way to train your ear, feel accents and understand rhythm than dancing directly to live percussion.
That’s why, at the 22nd edition of our festival, selected workshops will once again be accompanied by live Cuban musicians. Our musicians don’t just play the music - they interact with dancers, challenge their timing, and help them hear details they’ve been missing on the dance floor.
Born and raised in Cuba, percussionist Gabriel Delgado, known as El Chino - brings years of experience performing, teaching and leading live Cuban music projects. Specialised in percussion, El Chino has played with various orchestras and performed at numerous shows and festivals. As a percussion teacher, he gives regular classes, and he is the musical director of the Cuban orchestra “El Chino & La Diferencia”.
Together with his orchestra El Chino & La Diferencia, he helps dancers stop counting the music and start truly listening to it.
